Bretagne Classic 2020 - The course !

It's the legendary event of Plouay, created in 1931 and having grown over the decades to become one of the greatest events in the cycling world. Thuesday 25th august, it will be its 5th edition under the name of Bretagne Classic - Ouest-France. A great race across Brittany, the Plouaysian race will present this year a route in the Morbihan and the Côtes d'Armor to reach Saint-Brieuc and its bay. The return by the steep roads of the center of Brittany will allow the best to make the difference. 37 municipalities will be crossed. The title holder is the Belgian Sep Vanmarcke.

Departure at 9:40 am. Arrival at 4:00 pm. 234,100 km loop (going to Saint-Brieuc) then 1 lap of the Circuit de Plouay. 234,100 km + 13,650 km = 247,800 km.

An historic edition

Tuesday August 25, 2020, for the 84th edition of the great race of Plouay, the Bretagne Classic - 5th of the name - will travel through the Kreiz Breizh to reach Saint-Brieuc, the capital of the Côtes d'Armor and of the old "Bro Sant-Brieg ". The race will be 248.7 km long and will pass through 37 breton municipalities. The course will have a denivelation of 3,500 m (D+). This edition will be historic. For the 20th anniversary of the Plouay World Championships, the event will be included in the week of the European Championships which will be held in Plouay. The crossing of Yffiniac, birthplace of Bernard Hinault, will also be the occasion to mark the 40th anniversary of his World Champion title won on 31th August 1980, in Sallanches.

Return of the Pont-Neuf climb

Other historical aspects: the return of the great race of Plouay on a Tuesday, as was the case for decades; the return from the Pont-neuf climb which marked the history of the Grand-Prix de Plouay between 1956 and 1975. It was 17 times the final climb of the race, its summit is only 2,000 meters from the finish line on the boulevard of the World Championships.
